Easter & Spring Table Decor

I’m so excited that spring has almost sprung! It’s been quite the soggy winter, something us Southern California peeps are not accustomed to. So a table steeped in springtime touches seems like the right direction to kick off the season or to use for an Easter celebration.
People frequently ask me where I get my ideas and often it’s simply strolling through the aisle of a store. This tables’ inspiration began at Home Goods where I found this darling tablecloth. I loved the chubby (or rather, well-fed) birds & nests on it, & it became my platform to build on.
Home Goods is also where I found the placemats. I felt they looked birds’ nest-like (I’m pretty sure I just made up a word 😉 and were a good neutral I could see myself using for lots of future occasions.
With a theme in mind, now it’s time to start collecting the goods.
Gathering up Table Decor:

Home Shopping:
As I have an affection for cute chubby birds, I “shopped” my home and used the sets of ceramic birds I use for decor on the regular. Your own cupboards and bookshelves are always a great place to start when pulling together your tablescape. I’m a firm believer in using what you have first, and then fill in where needed.
I was also able to pull an old table runner found at World Market years ago on sale (similiar color to this) and napkins purchased from At Home last summer. The colors worked great with my new tablecloth.
Bargain Bins:
The dollar bins at Target (one of my favorite haunts) happened to have these bird cages that I snatched up to add to my bird motif. I also scored a few straw and artificial moss bunnies. My table was designed for Easter, so I felt like I needed some bunny decor to convey the Easter celebration

For more bargain hunting, I love to keep an eye on Michael’s (bargain bins or with coupon in hand), and the Dollar Tree. I even sometimes find steals and deals at the Grocery Store! I particularly check for the post-holiday sales when they’ve really slashed their prices. It’s planning ahead for sure, but I’ve found some great pieces over the years and bonus, it gives me a jumpstart on next years’ inspiration.

Solid Deals and Regular Good Pricing:
I regularly have luck at Home Goods—it’s just an amazing treasure trove and yes, a very dangerous place for me to roam. TJ Maxx (one is conveniently located WAAAY too close to my home), Target (they have some terrific designer lines) and Amazon (you just can’t beat the ease of Amazon Prime).

I found the nests on Amazon. I did have to mold and jeuge them a bit to get them to look how I wanted, but they worked well and the price was right. I believe I found the colored plastic eggs at Target, but it could have been Michael’s. I honestly can’t remember.

Flowers:
My go-to is always Trader Joe’s. We have one nearby and their prices and selection are always spot on. I wanted the arrangements to exude springtime; like I’d gathered them from the garden. I chose blue and white hydrangeas, St. John’s wort, eucalyptus, eryngium, craspedia and purple and white filler.

I absolutely love my “secret weapon”, the waterproof aspidistra ribbon. Found on Amazon, it is the finishing touch to many of my floral arrangements making them look so much more professional.
Favors:
I kept these very simple. Whopper Robin Eggs were wrapped in cellophane and tied with a coordinating bow from my stash. 1. It kept with my theme and 2. Chocolate. Enough said.
Appetizers:
