So, have you caught the Wickedly fun craze? We’re just weeks away from the opening of Wicked Part II: For Good, and I’ve been a fan of the franchise since the charming theater performance. I’m beyond excited for the film’s arrival!
To prep for the big event, I figured a quick refresher was in order. (I mean, I can’t remember what I had to eat yesterday, so you can’t possibly expect me to recall Wicked: Part 1.) Seeing an opportunity to gather some gal pals (or little witches) for a casual evening of fun… well, a Wicked-themed party was born.
Think: Pink and green décor, Elphaba-inspired drinks, and playful DIY touches throughout — a Wicked-themed party idea that’s perfect for fans counting down to the movie or anyone who loves a little magic in their gatherings. Let the games (and planning) begin!

Invites: Setting the Stage for Fun:
Planning kicked off with invites for our Wicked-themed party. Since it was a casual affair, sending out a Poppynote was perfect. I uploaded a movie poster image, added it to one of the templates, and it came out super cute.
Pro Tip: A few people thought we were actually watching Wicked Part II: For Good. Make sure your peeps know this is a Prep Watching Party! Bonus: This also works as a pre-party the night you go see the movie.
The Decor: Pink Meets Green — A Wickedly Perfect Match:
Guests were encouraged to arrive dressed in their “team color” — pink for Glinda or green for Elphaba — instantly adding to the Wicked-themed party décor. Some even rocked both. Instant theme AND instant decor!
With a palette of black, pink, and green, I started digging into my closets first. Bonus: my Halloween bin had just the right “witchy” touches to bring some magic without breaking the bank.
Tablescape Magic: Linens, Flowers, and Details That Wow:
Linens & Tabletop:
- Black linen tablecloths — perfect base to build the tables (dining & buffet)
- Pink round placemats — pop of color against black
- Green linen napkins — alternating colors adds playful flair to our Wicked-themed tablescape
- Black reusable plates — already getting back-to-back uses!
- DIY broom napkin rings — [Easy Peezy Napkin Rings HERE]
- Everyday flatware and glassware
Flowers:
My go-to Trader Joe’s never disappoints. I kept the flowers simple but with pops of coordinating color: winter peonies, shamrock hydrangeas, green dragon aster, spray roses, ornamental St. John’s wort, solomio diantus, and eucalyptus.
Using my easy arrangement method [see post HERE], I placed the flowers in black cauldrons (bubble vases slipped inside) — and the effect was magical!
Additional Table Decor:
- Pink crown for Glinda
- Black and gold frames with quotes from the movie
- Black gauze fabric – perfect reuse from my recent Halloween decor
- Votive candles
- Gold confetti – I used what I already had, but these Wicked-themed are great, too
- Witches’ hats dangling above on fishing line
Additional Decor: Small Touches, Big Impact:
- Guests followed a “Yellow Brick Road” to enter
- Paper tassels around the kitchen
- Pink sequin fabric on the buffet display
- Cinnamon broom for Elphaba vibes
- Pink and green foil fringe curtain along the wall (great for photos!)
- “Changed for Good” sign on the fireplace
- Velvet witches’ hat for a crooked-character touch
- Tiara — because don’t we all need a crown?
By blending what I already had with a few Wicked-themed pieces, the party felt cohesive, playful, and totally magical. After all, “Pink DOES go good with Green”!
BTW: Love my “Changed for Good” t-shirt! It’s cozy, embroidered, and totally fits the Wicked vibe. (Just a note: the price has gone up slightly since I snagged it a few weeks ago.)
Libations: Cheers to Wicked Fun:
Food and drinks are a fun way to nod to your theme. I recruited guests to help so I didn’t have to do it all — and yes, they went above and beyond!
Pink and green bubbly! My friend, Marina, made champagne glasses extra special with tiny bows alternating pink and green — perfect for a Wicked-themed party. The green champagne? Just a little yellow food coloring in Luc Belair Bleu Champagne — voila! Elphaba represented in liquid form (best “science experiment” ever!) Final cocktail touch: themed cocktail napkins — one more Wicked sprinkle for your party table.
Pro Tips:
- Champagne flutes can also serve as guests favors to take the party home!
- For younger witches at the party, consider sparkling grape juice or another fun mocktail to keep the magic flowing.
Menu: Appetizers, Dinner, and Dessert:
Because Every Witch Needs Fuel 😉
Appetizers:
- Small charcuterie tray & nuts
- Homemade guacamole — fresh off Linda’s avocado trees & a nod to Elphaba
- Cheese dip
- Cucumber canapes
Dinner:
- Chicken and spinach ricotta casserole
- Arugula salad
- Garlic bread
Dessert:
- Wicked-themed cupcakes — chocolate for Elphaba, vanilla for Glinda. My daughter made them, and honestly, they couldn’t have been more perfect — total showstoppers!
The toppers were too cute (and incredibly well-made, I might add.) - Guests were basically defying gravity after these. 😉
From appetizers to Wicked-themed desserts, every bite was as fun and playful as the décor.
Wicked Movie Viewing Madness:
After dinner, everyone cozied up in the family room for Wicked: Part 1, the perfect activity for any Wicked-themed party. I set up a tray with popcorn, pink bowls, and movie candy — simple but so FUN. (Works for kids or grown-up fans alike.)
We laughed, reminisced, and found ourselves rediscovering scenes like it was the first time all over again. (Funny how memory works… or doesn’t! 😂)
Finale: A Night “For Good”
The evening turned out exactly how I imagined — simple, sparkly, and filled with so much laughter. If you’re as excited for Wicked Part II: For Good as I am, trust me, a pre-party like this makes the wait way more fun! Bottom line, a Wicked-themed party is just good plain FUN!
So whether you’re gearing up for Wicked II or planning a birthday for your bestie, a Wicked-themed party makes celebrating these moments memorable. Pick a few ideas that work for you, don’t overthink it, and remember — you’ll be Popular with your crew… pinky promise. 💖💚

Shelly!!! What a cute idea!
Oh, I’m so glad you liked it! Honestly, it was so much fun and quickly became one of my favorites. 🙂
That couldn’t be a more fun and fabulous party! I LOVE all your ideas – seriously amazing! xo
It’s one you can easily scale down if it seems like “too much work”. The movie is the show stopper and that’s already in the can! 😉
Oh my goodness! What a fun evening!!! You thought of so many little details from decorations to food to flowers to make it a VERY special for your guest. An evening I’m sure they will long remember and talk about.
You and your friends would have so much fun! Yes, I did all the details, but just pick and choose what screams FUN to you and gather your peeps for a great time.
