Blooming Tables: Creative Easter & Springtime Decor Ideas

Cue the sunshine, blooming flowers, and the sound of birds singing – it’s that magical time when the world shakes off the winter chill and comes alive again!  Nature’s “waking up”…and hangin’ outdoors enjoying the season in action is where I want to be.

Celebrating the return of springtime was the inspiration for the table I set for Easter.   But with a few simple adjustments, this versatile tablescape would be beautiful for a shower, tea or garden party, too.

Here’s how I put it all together:

Table Decor:

Linens:

  1. I love to layer my tables, especially when I want it to be a little more elevated look.  My base for this tablescape was a White Linen Tablecloth (90”x132” was floor-length for my table).
  2. Next layer was a textured Burlap Linen Tablecloth in sage green and BONUS: It was water resistant too.  Perfect for outdoor dining! (It photographed a brighter color than it was in person.  It was more subtle that the picture shows.  Go figure.

3. For a pop of color, I went with Linen Napkins in Burnt Orange.  While it doesn’t appear to be “springy”, against the darker rich moss green in the bunny decor it really worked.

4. For placemats, I used these Round Basketweave Placemats in Natural that I used before for last years’ Springtime/Easter Table.  I love to be able to to recycle items but with a whole new look.

Tableware:
  1. I used my Wedgewood Strawberry & Vine white dishes for dinner plates.
  2. The dessert/salad plates were a Home Goods find:  green toile rabbit design was adorable.  While not the same, I found a few great options:
    1. Floral Salad or Meadow Dessert Plates – each of these designs are actually a little more versatile & will work for multiple occasions and color schemes (think bridal shower, birthday celebration or Mother’s Day to name a few).
    2. Green French Toile Charger Plates – Another way to go would be to use these chargers to anchor the white plates.  Again, multiple uses for these.
  3. For glassware, I used these vintage colored Green goblets – just love their vibe!
  4. Reed & Barton Francis 1st Silverware finished the place setting. (Pull out the good stuff!  If you have not yet used the beautiful dishes you registered for way back when, I challenge you to pull them out, dust them off…and USE THEM!)
Floral Centerpieces:
  1. Clear Bubble Vases were used for the floral arrangements.  I used two sizes.  The smaller size I picked up at The Dollar Tree which you just can’t beat the price!
  2. My flower choices were choices were to show that spring had sprung.  I chose:  French Lilac, Ornamental St. John’s Wort in Green, Veronica, Rice Flowers, Garden Roses, Jumbo White Mums and Eucalyptus.
  3. The best finishing touch is to use Aspidistra Ribbon. It is waterproof and takes your design to the next level.

Additional Decor:
  1. Large Decorative Eggs were used within the flower arrangements down the center of the table.  These were either a Hobby Lobby or Home Goods find awhile back.  While different, these at Target are beautiful too.
  2. I added some Sisal Bunnies I already had in my stash from years’ past.

3. For some additional color and FUN, I scattered Miniature Decorative Eggs around the table.

4. At each place setting, I added Moss Flicked Resin Rabbit Figurines.  I loved the how the dark rich color popped against the place setting.

No gathering would be complete without the yummy food that comes along with it.  We typically host Easter brunch and though we had a smaller crowd so fewer menu items, it was still soooo good!

Favors:

Candy + Swag = Winning combination!  And BONUS…easy to make and inexpensive, too!  These “carrot” favors were literally rolling jellybeans in orange tissue paper.

For the stem, again I used tissue (green) and rolled it.  Scissor cuts to the top with a little bit of jeuging to spread the tissue paper out so it looked more like a carrot top.  A dollop of glue from a glue gun sealed the deal.

This tablescape was a really FUN one to do and I loved hosting it outside to enjoy the yard —my hubbie works so hard to make it look beautiful.

I hope these ideas put a spring in your step.  😉  Let me know what you did to make it your own OR better yet, what’s your favorite way of bringing springtime to your table?  And remember:  Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Let’s Party”!
