With Father’s Day just around the corner, it was a perfect time to reflect on the amazing father and father-figure influences I’ve been privileged to witness in my lifetime. From my own dad who has shared his gift of having never met a stranger and rallying a room with laughter…to the gentle spirit of my Papa Paul, my mom’s dad, who embodied warmth and kindness…and certainly to my husband, whose character and strength shows daily in the love he continually shares with his family. Happy Father’s Day!
Like many out there, our home has definitely been a team effort in the parenting arena. I was very fortunate that I was able to be a stay-at-home mom for fourteen years while my kids were young. My husband worked tireless hours at his job to make it happen. Even when sometimes the numbers didn’t quite add up, he somehow found a way to figure it out financially, and I am forever grateful.
He is a role model for doing whatever it takes to provide for your family while still managing to be present, thoughtful and loving. He is a hero…our hero…and we are blessed beyond measure. So when it comes to Father’s Day, I want to make sure he’s made to feel special and honored for all he does for our little Padilla Familia.
Honestly, he’s pretty easy…leave him be. 🙂 Let him putter around in the backyard tending to the myriad of projects he has going at any given moment. Make sure he can soak in some rays poolside with his favorite tunes. And fill his belly with some yummy food (truthfully he often participates in the barbecuing of which we partake.)
