Tri-Tip Marinade

This recipe is from my husband's Uncle Gene. Anyone who has tasted it has asked for the recipe...and it's a doozy. The ingredients alone make it unique, but then add the fact you freeze it for 24 hours!? Well, it may sound crazy, but it is tried-and-true delicious.

Ingredients

Meat
  • 2-3 lbs. Tri-Tip - cut into small serving sizes
Marinade
  • 3 tsp .Sesame oil
  • 1/2 C Sugar
  • 2 Kiwis (juice & fruit)
  • 3-4 Cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 Onion sliced
  • 1/2 C Sunflower seeds (without shells)
  • Salt/Pepper to taste
  • 1 Can of Sprite
  • Soy Sauce (enough to cover meat) - Large container

Method

  1. Directions:  Add sliced meat into a Ziploc freezer bag.  Add sesame oil, sugar, kiwis, garlic, onion, sunflower seeds, salt, pepper and Sprite. Add soy sauce to cover the meat and seal the bag.  (I double bag just in case.)  Freeze for at least 24 hours before cooking.

Notes

Hot Tip:  I usually prepare these two at a time so I've got an extra tri-tip in the freezer ready to go! :)
